Specialist endodontics is a branch of dentistry focused on diagnosing and treating issues related to the inside of the tooth, specifically the pulp and surrounding tissues. Endodontists are dentists with advanced training beyond dental school in performing root canals and treating complex root and tooth-related issues.
Specialised tools and techniques are used to preserve the natural tooth, often performing root canal treatments to remove infected tissue and seal the tooth to prevent further infection.
Endodontists also perform re-treatment of root canals . Their advanced techniques lead to a higher success rate in redoing root canal treatments.
If you’re experiencing persistent tooth pain, sensitivity, or swelling, an endodontist can provide targeted treatment to help save your tooth and relieve discomfort.

Root canal treatment is a procedure designed to treat infection or damage inside the tooth. The treatment usually requires one or two visits to our specialist endodontist, and sometimes more, depending on the complexity of the case.
During the treatment, the endodontist will first numb the area around the tooth. Then, they will carefully remove the infected or damaged pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth). After cleaning the area thoroughly, the root canals are sealed to prevent further infection. If necessary, a temporary filling is placed to protect the tooth until the permanent restoration, like a crown, is applied.
The goal of root canal treatment is to save the tooth and restore its function, preventing the need for extraction. In most cases, the procedure is relatively painless, and the tooth can function normally after healing.

Many people worry that root canal treatment is painful. The procedure is usually no more uncomfortable than having a filling placed. During the treatment, the area around the tooth will be thoroughly numbed with a local anesthetic, so you won't feel any pain.
While some patients may experience slight discomfort or sensitivity after the procedure, it’s generally minimal. For those who feel nervous or anxious, we offer sedation options to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable throughout the treatment.
Rest assured, the goal of root canal therapy is to relieve pain, not cause it, and our team is here to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What are the costs of root canal treatment?
The cost of root canal treatment can vary depending on the complexity of the case. For patients referred to us for specialist endodontic care, our fees are as follows:
Consultation Fee: £150 (This fee is redeemable against the cost of any treatment you may proceed with.)
Root Canal Treatment: From £900 (The final cost will depend on the tooth and the extent of the treatment required.)
Please note: After root canal treatment, we would normally recommend a crown to help restore the tooth’s strength and function. The cost of a crown is additional, and we can discuss options during your consultation.
We understand that dental treatment can sometimes be a significant investment, and we aim to provide clear, transparent pricing from the start. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
